Something’s Gotta Give
Starring Jack Nicholson, Diane Keaton and also Kanu Reeves.
Jay lent me the movie and I watched it at home along with mom and sis. Certain bits of it had us roaring with laughter though the portrayal of a very much older man with a lovely young woman did look rather iky. The story was about an old playboy Harry, his string of beautiful young girlfriends, an aversion to marriage and older women (or rather women his own age!).
During a romantic rendezvous with his latest girlfriend, Marin, he develops chest pains and winds up being nursed by Marin’s reluctant mother Erica, who is a playwright. The two older ones finally end up with each other, though the bit that I didn’t care too much for was that the young doctor who was attracted to Erica played by Keanu Reeves ends up getting hurt! But the ‘breaking up’ time when Erica howls from morn till dusk when Harry dumps her was classic. I also liked the bit where she has her revenge by writing the entire episode of her life into a play, down to the ‘dancing Henry’s with their bare bottoms and hospital wrappers.
